What is an Instagram Story Generator?
An Instagram story generator creates vertical (9:16) mockups of a single Instagram story — the gradient or image backdrop, a big centred text block, the progress bar at the top, the username/timestamp header, and the reply bar at the bottom. These are the go-to format for presentations, social-media-marketing decks, and tutorials about Instagram growth strategies.
Standard story dimensions are 1080×1920 pixels (a 9:16 portrait aspect). At export our mockup renders at 3× the on-screen 320px wide card, which lands at roughly 960 pixels wide — close enough to the real thing for slide decks and article heroes. For a true 1080×1920 asset, scale up the downloaded PNG in any image editor.
Backdrop options. Stories live on a coloured or photographic backdrop. We include three gradients (Aurora, Sunset, Ocean) that match common Instagram aesthetic trends, a solid colour option for minimal designs, and an image upload for when you want the actual backdrop photo the story would run on.
Text overlay. Instagram's text-style stories often use very large headline text (60–90pt). Our default is 72pt; adjust up for dramatic headlines, down for more body-length captions. The text colour and font size are configurable; we apply a subtle text shadow so the overlay stays legible on busy backdrops.
Progress bar at the top shows the story's playback progress. Adjust the slider to represent any moment in playback — useful for tutorials showing different states of a multi-story sequence.
Ethics. Mockups for presentations and tutorials are fine. Impersonating a real brand or person is not. Label mockups clearly.

- What's the right aspect ratio?
- 9:16 vertical, which is what Instagram stories use natively. We render at that ratio so the mockup reads as a real story.
- Can I upload a photo as the backdrop?
- Yes — pick 'Image' in the backdrop gallery and upload a photo. The story text overlays on top with a subtle shadow for legibility.
- Why's there only one progress segment?
- Instagram shows multiple segments for multi-story sequences. We show three segments (one filled to your progress percentage) to approximate a typical story in the middle of a sequence.
- How do I export at true 1080×1920?
- Our render is 3× of 320px wide (~960px). Scale the downloaded PNG up in any image editor to reach 1080×1920. For sharper output, let us know via Contact and we can raise the internal render size.
